Every Child Deserves to Find Their Sound
Access to a music education is pivotal to creating incredible humans.
At Sound Hall Studios, giving back isn’t an afterthought — it’s part of who we are.
“Music education doesn’t just teach children how to play an instrument. It teaches them how to listen, how to collaborate, how to persist through difficulty, and how to express what words cannot.”
Music Changes Everything. But Not Every Child Gets the Chance.
Across Central Virginia, students are facing a reality that too many of us take for granted: school music programs are underfunded, overcrowded, or disappearing entirely. Budget cuts are minimizing or eliminating band and orchestra programs entirely. Instruments many times go unrepaired and unplayed. Talented young musicians are losing access to instruction, opportunity, and the life-changing experience of making music with others.
The research is clear and consistent. Students who participate in music education demonstrate stronger academic performance, improved emotional regulation, greater teamwork skills, and higher rates of school engagement. Music doesn’t just make better musicians — it makes better humans.
At Sound Hall Studios, we believe access to music should never be determined by a child’s zip code or their family’s income. That conviction isn’t just a value we post on a wall — it’s a commitment we intend to act on, year after year, as our community grows.
Our Commitment to Music Education in Central Virginia
How We Give Back
Sound Hall Studios is a business built on the belief that music belongs to everyone. As we grow, so does our responsibility to the community around us. We are actively working to build partnerships with organizations across Central Virginia that share our commitment to expanding music education access for underserved youth. Here is how we plan to show up.
Benefit Concerts & Fundraising Events
Sound Hall Studios will host regular benefit concerts and community fundraising events, bringing musicians and music lovers together in The Hall to raise funds for music education initiatives in Central Virginia. These events will be open to our community and designed to celebrate music while creating real impact for the students who need it most.
Round-Up Donation Program
Every purchase at Sound Hall Studios — from studio bookings to accessories in our shop — will include the option to round up to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to our music education giving fund. Small amounts add up to meaningful change, and every note played here can help a child discover theirs.
Free & Reduced-Cost Studio Time
Sound Hall Studios will offer free and reduced-cost studio access to qualifying youth music programs, after-school initiatives, and nonprofit organizations serving underserved communities in Central Virginia. We have the space. We want to share it with the kids who need it most.
Scholarships for Camps & Workshops
No child should miss out on a Sound Hall summer camp or workshop because of financial barriers. We are committed to establishing a scholarship fund that provides need-based access to our programming for students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate.
We are building these commitments into the foundation of Sound Hall Studios — not as add-ons, but as core to how we do business. As our nonprofit partnerships take shape across Central Virginia, we will share our progress with our community every step of the way.
Our Partners
We are looking for mission-aligned organizations doing meaningful work in the Richmond area — and we want to support you.
Our current partners:

Music Orchard Richmond is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to high-quality, inclusive music education for students across Richmond and the surrounding counties. Their mission is simple — every K-12 student deserves the opportunity to experience music. Through community support, advocacy, and exceptional programming, they work every day to nurture a genuine love for music in young people who might not otherwise have access to it.
