Drumming 4 Every 1: West African Drumming for People with Disabilities (Free Introductory Class)
Free Intro Event: Drumming Classes for People with Disabilities
Curious about Drumming 4 Every 1, our inclusive drumming classes for people with disabilities? Sound Hall Studios is excited to host instructor Ray Nelson for a free demonstration of the program, including a short adaptive drum circle. Join us at our space from 9 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 24th. Bring your potential students to see how they respond to the drums and the setting — no experience necessary, and trained staff will be on hand to assist throughout.
Meet Your Instructor
Ray Nelson has been playing drums since age 11 and hand drums since age 26. He is a certified Drum Circle Facilitator through Village Music Circles and a Level 3 teacher of the World Music Drumming Curriculum. Since launching in 2019 and introducing its adaptive curriculum in 2021, Drumming 4 Every 1 has grown to include multiple classes each year and a Summer Drummer Camp.
About Our Drumming Classes for People with Disabilities
Drumming 4 Every 1 is an inclusive and safe drumming experience where students learn the basics of rhythm, hand drum and percussion techniques, ensemble play, and timing skills through the World Music Drumming curriculum. Over our 10-week program, students walk away with an understanding of musical concepts like call and response, son clave, counting, and other beginning musical skills — while also building self-regulation and social skills through our community-based instructional method.
What to Expect at the Introduction
Join Ray for a hands-on drum circle experience and get a first look at what the full class series has to offer, starting January 9, 2027. Ray will share more about the program, what students can expect, and how to get involved.
Everyone who signs up and commits to the full class series at this event will receive a special discount!
